Welcome to captainpoodle.com's Incomplete Gallery of Family and Friends

Here are a few of the photographs that I've taken over the last few years.  At some point in the future I'd like to have them categorized and thumbnailed, but for now this format will have to do.  Enjoy!!!  (this page is large and may take awhile to load)

Here are the three most important people in my life,  my dad, mom and sister.  We were in Arizona for this picture.

Here is my sister reading a book.  She lives in Alaska now and, among other things, fights wildfires for a living.

Here's poodle wearing a witch hat and holding a bird toy when he was a pup.

The old man should know better than to snooze in public when the Captain has his camera out.

It's the Fourth of July 2003 today and I hope everyone is having a good one.  My day was exceptionally terrible but there's no need to dwell on that.  I sure could use some good memories right now so here are photos of two Fourth of Julys that were great.

Here are two great people, Dr. Chris and Josh, on a hike we took on the Fourth of July in 1996.  This is Captain's favorite place in the whole world, Gothic, Colorado.  The closest  mountain in the background is Gothic Mountain and we are on Red-Rock Mountain

On the Fourth of July of 1997 Josh couldn't come with us, but Dr. Chris and I hiked to the top of Gothic Mountain.  Here we are with Mt. Crested Butte behind us.  Have you ever read anything by Edward Abbey?  Dr. Chris has and Abbey is his favorite writer.

What is Dr. Chris doing with this young golden-mantled ground squirrel (Spermophilus lateralis) on the back porch of the Lab Building?   Likely painting it with peroxide dye.

And what is this?  Looks like Dr. Chris is bothering yet another young sciurid, the yellow-bellied marmot (Marmota flaviventris).   Quick, someone call P.E.T.A. and start a new campaign!

Today (12 July 2003) I talked with my friend Aaron in Texas.  He is a fellow graduate student and he is working with Ocelots in order to get his Ph.D.   He told me today that there is soon to be a new addition to the Aaron-Eileen family.  Congratulations Aaron and Eileen!!!

Here's Aaron posing with a good cultural friend of ours, Clint Eastwood.

Here is the Captain with Fiona on Christmas Day 2002.  Aaron and Eileen invited me to spend the whole day with them.   What a great day it was.

And what the heck is this?  It looks to me like like Aaron is taking the serious business of photographing Ocelots with an infrared camera lightly.

Perhaps Aaron and his efforts were serious enough.  Look at this beautiful photograph of an Ocelot (The same camera is at the bottom of the photo).

Here's J.L., Adrian and Mike (I'm behind the camera) in south Texas.  In this photo, we were on break between checking traps for green anoles (Anolis carolinensis).

Ari in Gothic Colorado in front of Oh Be Joyful Cabin.  Later that day he played  guitar for a yellow-bellied marmot, which he insisted was a beaver.   Visit Ari's website by clicking  here.
